Williamson Medical Center named Michelle Young the year’s
second Employee of the Quarter during a reception last week in
Buchanan’s Café.
Young began as a cook in WMC’s cafeteria more than 12 years ago.
Since that time she has coordinated special functions such as the
annual holiday meal and other catering needs, and she now serves as
retail supervisor.
“Michelle is one of the most sincere, caring, hard-working people I
have ever had the opportunity to work with,” says Christine
Hartman, director of Nutritional Services. “She makes my job and
many others’ so much easier, and I am proud she represents this
department and WMC. It means a lot to all of us in Nutritional
Services to see her receive this award. She’s earned it.”
Before coming to Williamson, Young worked for 10 years in the
cafeteria at Brentwood High School. A Columbia resident, she says
she commutes to WMC because she loves the people.
“I love working with people, and everyone at Williamson—from my
co-workers to visitors—really cares for one another,” she says.
“There is a culture of hospitality and giving here that is hard to
find.”
Young receives a $500 check, a reserved parking spot in the Parking
Garage and a chance to be recognized as WMC’s Employee of the Year.
Employees were nominated for the award by their co-workers for
upholding WMC’s Standards of Performance.
Other nominees were Renae Dawson (Third Floor), Danielle
Pettus (Patient Financial Services), Emigdio Rabeles
(Environmental Services), Kerrie Rowland, R.R.T. (Hospital
Medical Services) and Kerri White, R.N. (Critical Care Unit).
